What Is the Weather Really Like?
Guanacaste is the driest region in Costa Rica, and even in the green season the typical day follows a pleasant pattern: sunny, bright mornings, clouds building around midday and a tropical shower in the afternoon or evening. The rain often comes in short, heavy bursts, then clears for a colorful sunset. Temperatures stay warm all year, usually in the high 20s to low 30s °C (mid 80s to low 90s °F).
Many years also bring a drier spell in July, known locally as the veranillo or “little summer”. September and October are usually the wettest months, so if you want the green-season benefits with more sunshine, May to August and November are great choices.
